There is no single ideal size. Use visual presence to choose the look you want, then use physical footprint to check whether the lugs remain inside your wrist. A moderate presence with clear lug space is the safest conventional starting point, but compact or bold watches can still be deliberate choices.
Lug-to-lug (L2L) measures the distance from the top to bottom of the watch case, including the lugs where the strap attaches. This measurement is often more important than case diameter for determining physical footprint. Enter it when available so the tool does not have to estimate the span.
Yes, if that is the aesthetic you prefer. Many people intentionally wear oversized watches for a bold, sporty look. Treat visual dominance and lug overhang as separate decisions: a dominant case can still stay inside the wrist, while a smaller case with long lugs can overhang. Comfort still depends on factors this tool cannot measure.
