How WatchCompared researches recommendations
Our goal is a decisive answer with visible evidence—not confidence theater or an implied hands-on review we did not perform.
Who is responsible
WatchCompared was created by Jitesh and his wife. Jitesh leads the editorial decisions and is responsible for the buying guidance published under the WatchCompared editorial-team name. Article bylines continue to use the author stored with each article.
Specifications and exact references
We prefer first-party manufacturer pages for dimensions, movements, compatibility, battery claims, sensors, and water resistance. A source supports only the exact model or reference it names. Missing fields stay missing rather than being inferred from a nearby model.
Comparisons and recommendations
Catalog fields are normalized into common units before differences are calculated. A recommendation uses populated specifications, documented buyer priorities, and pair-specific research where available. Missing evidence reduces the depth of the verdict; it does not become a tie-breaking assumption.
Hands-on and owner evidence
A database/specification comparison is not called hands-on. WatchCompared measurements are labeled separately from manufacturer dimensions. Owner wrist-fit photos and notes require authentication, ownership and license confirmations, image moderation, and fit-report moderation before publication.
Prices and retailer links
MSRP, historical catalog prices, marketplace observations, retailer search results, and exact current offers are different evidence types. We show an exact purchasable offer only when the listing identity and current price are available. Search links are labeled as searches, and buyers should verify the final variant, condition, price, delivery, returns, and warranty on the retailer site.
AI and automation
Software and AI may help normalize data, identify missing fields, summarize documented tradeoffs, draft copy, or run quality checks. They do not create permission to invent testing, prices, availability, ownership experience, ratings, or sources. Public recommendations remain subject to human editorial responsibility.
Affiliate independence
Amazon and eBay links can earn WatchCompared a commission. Affiliate availability does not decide a winner. A watch can be recommended without a direct affiliate listing, and a retailer link can be omitted when the exact destination is not verified.
Research dates
A “last researched” date means the underlying content was substantively checked. Dates are not advanced automatically for a deployment, formatting change, or page view.
